Rumors of Treasure

Of all the places the missing orginal Amber Room could be, trains and private collections rise to the top. In these cases, the chamber is either lost or mislabeled (as in a train wreck or lost train) or is housed in someone's private artwork collection. This means someone knew what the room panels were and knew the right people to acquire the amber and had the means (money or clout) to get them.

Rumors place the Amber Room everywhere from the Weimar underground, surrounded by old warheads, to the Jonastal cliffs to any number of castles, purportedly melted down during World War II bombings. But if the room survived the war, trains seem to be a favorite theory, mostly because a lot of treasure trains laden with ill-gotten artwork and other valuables have disappeared.

Now, we have hints of such rumored trains. These are recent headlines from AP and IsraelNationalNews website:

Hopefully, the original Amber Chamber will be among the truer rumors.
